What are some of the best flea markets in North Carolina?
- Raleigh Market (Raleigh): Nicknamed North Carolina's Greatest Treasure Hunt, one step inside this enormous space will explain the moniker. Something is here for everyone from the vast inventory of vintage clothing and housewares, collectibles, handcrafted art, antiques, and new and used treasures. Are you looking for a costume, a gift, or some fresh strawberries? This is the place to look. And it's entrenched in the culture as for more than 50 years, this flea market at the State Fairgrounds has attracted shoppers from near and far. It's open every Saturday and Sunday with free admission.
- Smiley's Flea Market (Fletcher): One reason folks visit this massive flea market is for the delicious restaurants containing such foods as authentic Mexican, hamburgers and sandwiches, ice cream, a bakery, and icy snow cones. This is one of the state's largest flea markets featuring more than 1,000 selling spaces from produce to clothing, electronics, antiques and collectibles, and there's even a barber shop and hair salon! In addition, you can jump on the carasoul or take a ride on the bumper cars. The hours begin every Friday through Sunday at 6 a.m.
- Brightleaf Flea Market (Smithfield): Enjoy this massive 100,000-square-foot indoor space or shop outside every Saturday and Sunday. For some local fresh fruits and vegetables, visit Rosy's Produce Market, have a tasty lunch in one of the restaurants, or enjoy a snack at one of the concession stands. Enjoy church here every Sunday at 8:30 a.m. complete with live music. And afterward, peruse the vendor booths and take home some special treasures.
