If you’ve been around for any length of time, you know my love of mason jars. They are so versatile and practical for gift giving. Just a quick wash and you can reuse them as food storage containers, vases, festive decorations… even another gift!

Now, when I say this is an easy DIY gift, I mean that wholeheartedly. This does not require any crafting skills, creativity, or anything else of the sort. All you need is the full function of your wrists for some minor twisting action, and a gift recipient ready for yummy candy!

Supplies needed to make a mason jar candy dispenser

I thought this was an excellent Christmas gift idea, so I went with green and red colors. Feel free to use any color of your choice. You could even paint the jar and feeder as a solid color or other painting technique.

Jelly beans are a great option, but small candies like M&Ms, Skittles, Hershey Kisses, Reese’s Pieces, and other small candies will work perfectly, too.

DIY candy jar dispenser instructions

First, gather your items needed for the dispenser. Then, fill the mason jar with the candy of your choice.

If you are gifting this, consider leaving the candy packaged but placed inside of the mason jar. This way, melting isn’t an issue.

At this point, you have two options: to attach the feeder to the top of the jar or prefill the feeder then attach.

If you attach the empty feeder to the jar directly, then flip it over, the jar will look a little empty as the candy filters down into the feeder. I recommend pre-filling the feeder, then tilting the jar and the feeder together (quickly) so your jar stays relatively full and minimal candy spills.

It’s a little tricky but worth it for a fuller candy jar! Make sure everything is attached and secure and presto! Your gift is complete!

You can also add decorations to your jar with ribbon, paint, stickers, and more.

See, it really is the easiest mason jar gift ever! It only takes seconds to complete, and you can customize it any way you please.
