Happy National Poetry Month and TTPD Release month!!
I cannot even begin to explain how excited I am for this album. I'm hoping this album will evoke real, raw emotions similar to Taylor's Debut and Red, but with a more grown-up version.
Also, I'm not looking forward to it because I want to hate on Joe (let's be better than that please), but rather to enjoy her beautiful music, lyricism, and storytelling.

I came across this book "Reputation decoded" and I highly recommend this book to everyone who is a Rep Stan or any swiftie who enjoys uncovering easter eggs and dissecting lyrics like I do.
Whether you're a die-hard Swiftie or simply intrigued by the artistry behind her music, this book promises an exhilarating journey through one of Taylor's most iconic albums.
Did you know?
In "Getaway Car," the lyric "We never had a shotgun shot in the dark (oh!)" means that the relationship between Taylor and Tom was likely going to fail. When something is described as a "shot in the dark," it implies attempting something with little chance of success. On the other hand, using a shotgun typically involves aiming to cover a broader area to increase accuracy and hit the target.
Thus, by combining both ideas, Taylor is trying to say that her relationship with Tom was destined to fail because even using a shotgun would not have improved their chances.

I've talked about how Dear Reader, being the last track on the 3 AM version of midnights, is related to TTPD in my recent newsletters. Here's more on that : Track order is no coincidence with Taylor.
Dear Reader is kind of an author’s note to TTPD.
It always felt weird to me that Dear Reader was the last track on Midnights (before TTPD’s announcement) because I hear it like a preface rather than a closing thought. It feels like Taylor’s giving a disclaimer or warning for what’s to come.
The song Dear Reader already sounds like someone giving advice while hearing conflicting advice or their own internal monologue.
The lyrics when cut a little to read more like a poem or forward.
"Dear reader, If it feels like a trap, you're already in one. Get out your map, pick somewhere, and just run. Burn all the files, desert all your past lives. And if you don't recognize yourself, that means you did it right.
Never take advice from someone who's falling apart.
Bend when you can, snap when you have to. You don't have to answer, just 'cause they asked you; the greatest of luxuries is your secrets. When you aim at the devil, make sure you don't miss.
I wander through these nights, I prefer hiding in plain sight, my fourth drink in my hand, these desperate prayers of a cursed man spilling out to you for free. I could over analyze this song completely, but to keep it short, it starts out as someone confidently writing advice, and then it feels like doubt creeps in.
The echoes in the song say “you should find another” “find another guiding light because I shine so bright”
how she says “burn all the files” and then the TTPD variants are calledFILE NAME: The Manuscript orFILE NAME: The Albatross like.. there is definitely a connection there.
Along with this-
I've seen people go with the statement that reputation (TV) will be her revenge album, which is a little shocking to me. Firstly, the OG was never a revenge album (that's the notion most people have that rep was about revenge no it wasn't)
Well, black dog represents depression is what we've concluded, but if we dig a little deeper, what else does the black dog mean in folklore?
"the black dog is a hellhound that acts as an omen or bringer of death or doom, misfortune and tragedy"
If you look back on the reputation era, the poems and taglines. what is the tagline of reputation? "In thedeathof her reputation, she felt truly alive” Because the black dog is the omen of death... The Black Dog being the last varient our announcement/warning/omen of Reputation.
Are there any Reputation era quotes that match up with acceptance? In the reputation poem book, right before she says the "in the death of her reputation" quote, she says "and may your heart stay breakable, but never by the same twice", which when looked on with current eyes, reads very much like accepting the loss of her love, walking away and not letting the same person break her heart twice.
Reputation (TV) will be more of an acceptance than revenge.
