Just completed watching the first season of the 2008 Spice & Wolf.

Kraft and Holo's dynamic is a treat. General Anime Talks. (3)

The opening is one of a handful of anime openings that seem hilariously somber/calm compared to most anime openings I've seen.
I can only name the Lunar Legend Tsukihime anime op as the only other one I can think to put in this category in my recent memory.

Also... Dub Holo got me thinking of Dub Frieren (Frieren Beyond Journey's End) thanks to the actress's delivery in her calmer moments.
Might be a sad immortals thing...

Every now and then I try to look if an anime currently airing has a TvTrope page, and man seeing how barebones and lacking in quality control the I'll Become A Villainess Who Goes Down In History page is weird to see. I've seen more fanfic pages with more quality and care put into them.

I would say more that TVTropes can be a crapshoot about whether or not a work gets enough attention from someone who is willing to make/expand the page for it. It sucks but that is the nature of the site and why I just tend to stick to posting funny moments for my edits.

My copy of Nobunagun came in today. I know it's an anime from a decade ago, but I never got around to getting into it, even though the show is only 13 episodes. I am here for the over-the-top and crazy action. I'll start watching tonight.

Has anyone know if this new anime is based on anything or is it original?

Me likey! I am glad to see anime with more distinct and unique art styles making a comeback again. They already were, but it is more noticeable now.

So one of my friend hasn't started a new anime in ages, but has heard Apothacary Diaries is good. They didn't want to watch without someone to talk to, so they asked me if I've seen it. I told them no, I haven't but it's on my list. Conversation continued and we've decided to watch (at least one) episode a day, schedules permitting at the same time and talk about it. And perhaps have a semi live reaction log about it through discord private chat.

Funny thing though, I almost always watched my anime dubbed. And they almost always watch their subbed. So we might be having a case of spot the difference in real time hehe.

This might run the risk of Whitehall, but I found this somewhat recent news video where Hayao Miyazaki was at an awards show and came out and say that the Japanese should not forget the atrocities the country committed during WWII.

Nobunagun is an underrated show. Respect for the Dead Man earned its place in my playlist and I appreciated its not-XCOM + not-Fate premise.

I mean I disagree with him on a lot of things, he can very much be an "old man yells at cloud" just like Tolkien, but he does have good points from time to time.

This, sometimes he just has some takes i don't agree with, saying Japan shouldn't forget their war crimes is not one of them.

Who cares if it's from a decade ago, if a show is good or interests you, then watch it, a while back i mentioned how i started seeing the 80's Dirty Pair anime and no one cared.

Great show btw.

It being a decade ago is not an issue for me, I was just pointing out how I never got around to it. I didn't even know the anime existed until about 2017. BTW, I saw the Dirty Pair OVA, and the two movies, in 2021. I got them off Amazon and don't regret any of them.

Miyazaki is based, I know that's like saying "water is wet" but he really is.

Unsure if this will be an OVA special since they haven't even finished with just one more season to go, but here, have some sweet Sagara family antics voiced by old and new.

Good christ, you two, not in front or within earshot of the kids! I do love how casual they just get on with it though.

The Family LNs are also getting a manga adaption, so hopefully that all means that the chances of getting the last chunk of the original series adapted sooner has risen a lot General Anime Talks. (19)

*Though to be honest, the girls all being crazy was sort of part of the charm of IS.

There's a reason I put improved in quote marks in my post

RedHazard said:

I remember it. It was basically IS if Charlotte was the main girl because Charlotte was obviously the best girl on account of not being absolutely bonkers.* Unfortunately, lacking the advantage of being made better by standing next to obvious red flags, the main girl in hundred ended up being boring, especially because her main competition was a blonde ojou with drills. Author sort of played himself there.

It was fun.

The thing you can torpedo the relationship between Emilia and Hayato with a single name: Claudia. Claudia's desire for Emilia is an exact copy of Emilia's desire for Hayato, right down to the lack of chemistry, except it's played for laughs, and once you see that you can't really take Hayato and Emilia seriously. And that's only the beginning of the problem's with Emilia. Like I'm pretty sure that her statements when Hayato walks in on her in the bath constitute intent to commit some sort of crime. And how exactly did she get registered for school as a guy? I suspect another crime there.

The main love interest is probably the thing drags it down for me however.

Kind of but the LN does show why he is the way he is since he is actually pretty much aware of his situation and plays up the dense act because he knows the instant he chooses one of them the others will most likely try to kill her.

I bring the trailer for the anime adaptation of the Comedy Fantasy/Isekai Light Novel series "Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf!" that is premiering in January:

View: https://youtu.be/kpGFj-DxOZY

Summary from J-Novel Club said:

Kazuhiro Kitase's main hobby is sleeping. Ever since he was young, he would enter a world within his dreams and go on exciting adventures. As he grew older, he became acquainted with a female Elf and the two have now been united through a Dragon's brand! As he wakes up one day, he notices a familiar figure sleeping next to him...the Elf girl from his dreams?! Join Kazuhiro on his new adventures through Japan with the lovely Ms. Elf!

Also, I bring a short music video connected to Princess Session Orchestra, an upcoming Magical Girl Series from the same minds that created Symphogear:

If this is just a small taste of the music we are going to get for it, the series is certainly going to end up not lacking in the music department.

Just wanna say I'm surprised to hear that blonde drills one wasn't the main girl since the official artist seems most fond of her in social media posts.
