Easy Apple Pie Cinnamon Rolls start off with refrigerated cinnamon rolls then are filled with a delicious and easy to make apple pie filling!
A SIMPLE BUT TASTY BREAKFAST OR DESSERT!
What is better than regular cinnamon rolls? Apple Pie Cinnamon Rolls! A simple apple pie filling is whipped up and placed as a topping on refrigerated cinnamon rolls. They only take 10 minutes to whip up and are so flavorful and delicious that they taste homemade!
TIPS FOR MAKING THIS EASY BREAKFAST OR DESSERT!
- You can use any type of apple for these. I like to use a more tart green apple like Granny Smith or Golden Delicious. We aren’t baking these for a long time so you could certainly use a Fuji or another sweet/tart apple that you enjoy and they should do fine.
- You can substitute with apple pie filling for the fresh apples.
- If you like your apples super soft, you will want to to put the apple filling in a sauce pan and meat it up over medium heat for about 8-10 minutes before filling the cinnamon roll cups.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST)
- refrigerated cinnamon rolls
- apple (Granny Smith or Golden Delicious)
- cinnamon
- brown sugar
- vanilla extract
- lime (or lemon) juice
HOW TO MAKE APPLE CINNAMON ROLLS:
Preheat oven to 375f degrees. Dice apple, and mix with cinnamon, brown sugar, vanilla, and lime juice until evenly coated.
Open cinnamon rolls, and roll each out until you have a flat disc. Set aside icing for later.
Spray a muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray, then push a cinnamon roll into each cup – make sure to press around the sides so they form their own cups! Add a generous spoon full of apples to each one.
Bake at 375F degrees for 10 minutes.
Once done, drizzle with icing that was set aside from the cinnamon rolls.
Serve warm!

Why does it only say one apple? Is it one per cinnamon roll?
Reply
Nope. One apple for the whole thing unless your apple is really tiny then you could use two.

I made these today at my camper and baked them on the girl. They turned out great. Not only did I make them with apple, but I thought I would try them with peaches. They turned out even better tasting than the apple one. Thanks for the idea of how to use cinnamon roll dough.

I think I will try this with the dough I use for cinnamon rolls (buns), instead of buying the pre-made cinnamon roll tube dough. Love the idea of having apples in the filling. Hubby loves apples AND cinnamon buns!Reply
These look yummy and will be fast to fix on Christmas morning. Thank you for this great idea!
