If you’ve followed along on One Essential Community for long, you know that I LOVE agood essential oil room spray! Over the past couple of years, I think I’ve shared close to 100 of my favorite essential oil room spray recipes for summer, fall, winter, and Christmas.
But if there’s something that I love even more than a good room spray, it’s this amazing homemade “Before You Go” No. 2 Toilet Spray {a.k.a. Poo-pourri}.
“Why? What’s Poo-pourri?” you say.
followed quickly by … “Did you say POO? Pourri?”
Yep.
Yes, I did.
I said Poo-pourri.
You spray it into the toilet bowl before you go no. 2 (that’s the “poo” of Poo-pourri), and the spray floats on top of the toilet water to create a fresh-smelling barrier (that’s the “pourri” of Poo-pourri). It traps the odors inside the toilet bowl so that the stink does not come out of the toilet, which keeps the air in the bathroom smelling fresh and clean.
Simply amazing!
Here are a few of the reasons why I love this DIY Poo-pourri
natural – Absolutely no artificial fragrances or toxic chemicals
cheap – You make it yourself, and it’s just pennies per use.
easy to make – It’s just 3 ingredients. Pour, shake, and you’re done.
favorite scents – Because I make it myself with essential oils, I can create and customize my favorite scents. I’ve shared 8 of my family’s favorite scents below – everything from floral to citrus, warm fall scents and holiday aromas.
most importantly, it really works! –Give the toilet bowl a few quick sprays before you go and the odors will be trapped discreetly inside the toilet bowl and flushed away. No one will ever know.

How to use homemade Poo-pourri spray
- Shake well before each use
- Spray the toilet water surface 4-5 times before you go no.2 — this will create a barrier on the surface of the toilet water that will trap odors in the bowl
That’s it!
There isn’t even a need for a courtesy flush.
The no. 2 spray traps the stink.
The odors stay in the toilet bowl, and the air stays fresh and clean.
Easy peasy!
