Yet comedian Daisy May Cooper was determined to make a difference on Sunday evening as she joined fellow stars at the event while dressed in a black bin liner, with rubbish strewn from the back and paired with a hat with a pigeon on top.
While the outfit certainly turned heads, the 33-year-old This Country star revealed her mum had designed the outfit and her intention was to donate the money she did not spend on a luxurious gown to charity.

The philanthropic funnywoman said: 'My mum did with her two friends Viv and Sharon, but I decided instead of wearing a normal dress I'd donate what I would have spent to charity and wear bin bags. There is a reason behind it.'

Her writer brotherCharlie Cooper took to Twitter to praise the bold fashion statement and gush over their mum's work.
The star, who writes This Country while also starring alongside Daisy, penned: 'My sister in a bin bag. At the baftas. Designed by our mum. The f*ckin nut bag'.
