Located in the Historic 18th & Vine Jazz District, the American Jazz Museum showcases the sights and sounds of a uniquely American art form through a number of interactive exhibits and films, galleries, theaters and more!

Kids and adults alike can immerse themselves in the history of the American Jazz scene, offering an inspirational and musical family days out in Kansas City!

The permanent exhibitions bring to life the great American form of jazz. Kids will love the interactive qualities as they enjoy the listening stations, touch screen initiatives and even custom mixing boards compliment the array of displays, graphics and even commissioned artworks!

Throughout the exhibitions at the American Jazz Museum, you'll find collections of photographs, sheet music, and posters all from the height of jazz's popularity that all help in telling the story of this amazing musical genre.

The American Jazz Museum is also home to a number of fascinating artifacts including Charlie Parker's Grafton saxaphone and a sequined gown worn by Ella Fitzgerald herself.

The Blue Room is a new nightclub that has been built within the museum and plays homage to it's jazz heritage by offering live music four nights a week!

There are plenty of places to grab food before or after your visit!

Offered free on First Fridays at 10:00 a.m. in the atrium of the American Jazz Museum for children in the greater Kansas City area. The program introduces kids to the sounds and styles of jazz, America’s art form!

The Swing Shop offers a unique selection of jazz related memorabilia: books, classic jazz CDs, CDs by Kansas City's finest artists, exclusive posters, postcards, American Jazz Museum apparel and much more!

The engaging Museum tours bring Charlie Parker, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, and Duke Ellington to life! the tours are designed to work with teachers curricula and needs. Each Art Gallery exhibition has a unique tour designed to complement it so why not take the students along!

All types of restrooms with baby changing available too.

There is wheelchair and disabled access.

The Gem Theater opens 30 minutes prior to each performance.
