Quick and Easy Biscuits Recipe

Whenever we have a nice big family dinner, I like to have some fresh homemade bread. But sometimes I run out of time or just forget to start the bread early enough. That is when 7Up Biscuits come to the rescue. You can make these in minutes and they only take about 10 minutes to bake. So even if dinner is almost ready, you still have time for a batch of fresh, warm, fluffy biscuits.

4 ingredient Biscuits

Recipes don’t get much easier than this. With just 4 ingredients and a few minutes you can make these yummy 7Up biscuits.

  1. Bisquick. This is a premade baking/pancake baking mix. Use another brand of pancake mix if you can’t find Bisquick.
  2. 7Up Soda. You can use any kind of lemon lime soda.
  3. Butter. I use salted butter. If using unsalted add a pinch of salt. If you prefer you can useshorteningbut I prefer the flavor the butter gives them.
  4. Sour Cream. You can also substitute plain Greek yogurt.

  • Sprinkle some Bisquick onto the counter and pat dough until it is about an inch thick. No need to knead the dough.
  • Cut out round biscuit shapes with a biscuit cutter or glass. Add enough dry Bisquick so that you can handle the dough without it totally sticking to your hands.
  • Pour melted butter into a 9×9 baking dish and then place cut biscuits over the butter.
  • Bake pan of biscuits for 8-10 minutes at 450 degrees F oven until golden brown. Serve with some jam, honey or butter.

How to Cut Biscuits

  • I use a round biscuit cutter that was my grandmothers. You could also use a round cookie cutter.
  • A round drinking glass will also work. Just dip the rim of the glass into flour to prevent dough from sticking.
  • For square biscuits you can just use a knife to cut the dough into 8-9 biscuits.

The combination may be a little strange but let me tell you these 7Up biscuits are not! What you get is an incredibly light, fluffy and tender biscuit. The taste and texture is amazing and they practically melt in your mouth!

They really don’t need anything else but of course a little bit of butter always makes everything better.

Can I Freeze Biscuits?

Biscuits can be frozen after they are baked and cooled or you can freeze the unbaked dough after you have cut it into circles.

Freeze baked or unbaked biscuits in an airtight container such as a zippered freezer bag, removing as much air as possible. Freeze in a single layer so you can easily remove a few at a time.

Frozen biscuit dough can be baked straight out of the refrigerator at 450 degrees F for 10-12 minutes. (they will take a few minutes longer to bake when dough is frozen.)

To reheat frozen baked biscuits:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place frozen biscuits on top.
  • Bake biscuits until they are hot and warmed through, about 12-15 minutes.

I prefer to use regular soda as I think diet soda has a funny after taste but you can use it if you prefer.
